They Must be in Phenomenal Shape, They Even Graduate from Gymazium

Most of the Czech school system remains a mystery. The stories of ex-pat English teachers are certainly telling tales of the free attitudes of sixteen to eighteen year old Czech women. It is hard to tell in these stories who is the prey and who the predator is. Graduation from Gymnazium, which is different than Czech High School, is an interesting time in the smaller cities and villages.

During the month of graduation all of the shops in town have pictures of the graduating classes of the various Gymnaziums in the window. The one young man graduating from the Dance and Performing Arts Gymazium with the eighteen beautiful girls certainly made a wise choice. For every fortune there is famine, soon his life will fill with the pain and hunger of unemployment. I am not of the opinion that a degree in Modern Dance is treated with the same disrespect that it is in the USA. Especially, given that many medical students are on-line sex workers or sweeping floors in pubs around the country.

The custom for all new graduates is to dress in costume and stroll around town in gangs panhandling for gifts. After being accosted by five or six Czech teenage girls willing to show their gratitude to a stranger for a few coins, certainly makes the afternoon delightful. The story about the girl showing me her assets is one of the more tame stories about this custom.
